Shape and purpose

A highball glass is tall and straight-sided, usually holding around 250 to 350 ml. The narrow shape leaves little surface area, so carbonation escapes more slowly, and there is room for plenty of ice. It is slightly shorter and wider than a Collins glass, although the two are often used interchangeably.
