Apple Mango Smoothie with Chia Seeds

Taste

Sweet and tropical, fruity and creamy, with a slightly thick texture from the chia.

About this smoothie

Mango brings tropical sweetness and a smooth texture, apple adds freshness and acidity, and banana makes the drink creamy. Chia seeds are the small seeds of a plant from the sage family; they are known for fibre and plant-based omega-3 fatty acids, and they absorb liquid, which thickens the smoothie.

The old recipe listed "12 mangoes", a garbled half mango; this version uses about 100 g mango per glass. Drink it soon or let it thicken for ten minutes, as you like.

Bartender tips

  • For a smoother texture, soak the chia seeds in the water for 10 minutes before blending.
  • Frozen mango chunks are practical and give an icy result.

Variations

Passion fruit twist
Add the pulp of one passion fruit for more acidity and aroma.
