Orange Pear Smoothie with Coconut Water

Whole oranges give more body than juice, and a ripe pear softens their acidity. Coconut water adds a light sweetness and keeps the smoothie easy to drink.

About this smoothie

Blending whole oranges rather than juicing them keeps the pulp and fibre in the glass, which gives a thicker, more satisfying drink. The pear brings a mellow sweetness that balances the citrus, and coconut water adds a subtle nutty note.

This version is distinct from our other orange and coconut smoothies by the pear. Oranges are known to be rich in vitamin C. It is a good breakfast drink, especially in winter when citrus is at its best.

Bartender tips

  • The white pith is bitter, so remove it carefully.
  • Blood oranges in winter give a beautiful red colour.

Variations

With ginger
Add a thin slice of fresh ginger for a warming note.
