Banana Pear Smoothie with Rice Milk

Rice milk is the lightest of the plant drinks, so the fruit and the hazelnuts take centre stage. The result is sweet, mild and a little toasty.

About this smoothie

Banana and pear are a soft, naturally sweet base that blends into a creamy texture without any sugar. Rice milk is naturally sweet and very mild, and it is free of dairy, soy and gluten, which makes it a good choice for many dietary needs. It is thinner than oat or soy milk, so the smoothie stays light. Hazelnuts add body, fibre and their typical sweet, toasty flavour, which suits pear especially well. A gentle breakfast or snack.

Bartender tips

  • Soak the nuts in water for a few hours or overnight, drain them, and the smoothie will be noticeably smoother.
  • Toast the hazelnuts briefly in a dry pan for a deeper, nutty flavour.

Variations

With cocoa
Add a teaspoon of cocoa powder for a light chocolate hazelnut version.
