Pineapple Chia Smoothie

Juicy pineapple sets the tone, apple adds crunch and freshness, and a small handful of rocket gives a peppery accent. Chia seeds thicken it gently as it stands.

About this smoothie

Pineapple is a strong partner for leafy greens because its acidity and sweetness cover bitter notes. Rocket is used sparingly here, just enough for a light peppery kick, and the apple adds a crisp freshness.

Chia seeds swell in liquid and give the smoothie a little more body. They are known as a source of fibre. The drink is light and tangy and fits well as a morning wake-up or a snack between meals.

Bartender tips

  • Let it stand for 5 minutes after blending if you prefer a thicker texture.
  • Baby spinach can replace the rocket for a milder taste.

Variations

Tropical
Replace the apple with half a banana for a creamier, sweeter version.
