Banana Smoothie with Nectarines

A whole banana makes this smoothie thick and sweet, a ripe nectarine adds fragrance and a little acidity. Coconut water keeps it light and slightly tropical.

About this smoothie

Banana is the classic smoothie base: it adds creaminess and natural sweetness and is known to provide potassium. On its own it can taste one-note, so the nectarine brings juice and a fresh stone fruit aroma. Coconut water adds its own mild sweetness.

The smoothie is fairly filling and fits breakfast or a snack after sport. Choose fruit that is fully ripe, then no sweetener is needed.

Bartender tips

  • Freeze the banana in slices for a thicker, ice-cold smoothie.
  • A pinch of cinnamon or vanilla suits the combination well.

Variations

With yoghurt
Replace half the coconut water with natural yoghurt for a creamier version.
