Nectarine, Banana and Baby Spinach Smoothie

Juicy summer nectarines and a creamy banana make this a sweet, golden green smoothie. The baby spinach turns the colour slightly olive, but you will hardly taste it.

Nectarine, Banana and Baby Spinach Smoothie

Taste

Sweet and fruity with juicy nectarine, a creamy banana base and a barely noticeable green note.

About this smoothie

Nectarines are smooth-skinned relatives of the peach, so they can go into the blender unpeeled. Ripe fruit is fragrant, juicy and sweet with a gentle acidity. Banana gives the smoothie a creamy texture, and baby spinach adds greens with almost no effect on the taste.

This is a good smoothie for green smoothie beginners and for children. It is at its best in high summer, when nectarines are ripe and cheap, and makes a quick breakfast or an afternoon snack.

Bartender tips

  • Nectarines do not need peeling; the skin blends in smoothly.
  • Freeze ripe nectarine slices in summer to make this smoothie in winter.

Variations

Peach version
Use ripe peaches instead of nectarines; peel them if the fuzz bothers you.
