About this smoothie

Kiwis are known for their high vitamin C content and a fresh, tangy flavour that can be quite sharp on its own. Almond milk, a drink made from ground almonds and water, adds a mild nutty taste and a creamy texture. Half a banana balances the acidity.

The result is a pale green, gently tangy smoothie. It suits breakfast or a light snack and works for people who avoid dairy.

Bartender tips

  • Golden kiwis are sweeter and less tart than green ones.
  • Do not let it stand too long: kiwi can make plant milks taste slightly bitter over time.

Variations

With almond butter
Add 1 tsp almond butter for a stronger nutty flavour and more body.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use cow's milk?

Yes, but blend and drink it quickly, as kiwi can make dairy taste bitter when it stands.

Is it vegan?

Yes, with plant-based almond milk it is fully vegan.

Do I need to peel the kiwi?

Yes, for this recipe; the hairy skin gives an unpleasant texture.
