About this smoothie

Avocado adds body and a buttery texture and is known for its monounsaturated fats. On its own it is not sweet, so the papaya supplies the fruitiness. Peppermint tea replaces water and adds a gentle freshness without the sharpness of fresh mint leaves.

Brew the tea ahead and chill it well. The smoothie is fairly filling and works as a small breakfast or a summer snack.

Bartender tips

  • A squeeze of lime lifts the papaya flavour and keeps the avocado green.
  • Use the other avocado half the same day; wrap it with the stone to slow browning.

Variations

With fresh mint
Use cold water and 5 fresh mint leaves instead of the tea.

Frequently asked questions

Is it sweet?

Only mildly. Ripe papaya helps; add honey or agave syrup if you like it sweeter.

Can I make it the night before?

It is best fresh, as avocado browns and dulls the flavour.

Is it vegan?

Yes, if you sweeten with agave syrup instead of honey.
