Berry Papaya Smoothie with Fruit Tea

Papaya is soft and mild, berries are sharp and fragrant, and together they balance each other out. Cooled fruit tea keeps the drink light and adds colour.

About this smoothie

Papaya on its own can taste a little flat, but paired with tart berries its gentle sweetness shines. The frozen berry mix also chills the smoothie and gives it a pretty pink colour. Papaya is a good source of vitamin C, as are most berries. Using fruit tea instead of juice keeps the sugar content low while adding aroma. It is a light, dairy-free smoothie for breakfast or a refreshing snack.

Bartender tips

  • A few drops of lime juice make the papaya taste more pronounced.
  • For more body, add half a banana.

Variations

Coconut version
Replace the tea with coconut water for a sweeter, more tropical drink.
