Chilled Apple Berry Smoothie with Coconut Milk

Frozen berries straight from the freezer make this smoothie ice cold and thick without a single ice cube. Apple and pear keep it sweet, coconut milk makes it creamy.

About this smoothie

This is the most practical of the apple smoothies: frozen mixed berries are available all year, cost little and are picked ripe. They chill the drink and give it a milkshake-like thickness. Typical mixes contain raspberries, blackberries, blueberries and redcurrants, all of which bring colour and a pleasant tartness.

Apple and pear balance the acidity, coconut milk rounds it off. Great on a hot day, for breakfast or as a quick dessert.

Bartender tips

  • Add the frozen fruit last so the blades can get going first.
  • If the blender struggles, let the berries thaw for 5 minutes.

Variations

Smoothie bowl
Use only 80 ml coconut milk, blend thick and top with sliced fruit and oats.
