Nectarine Melon Smoothie

Honeydew melon is mostly water, so it makes a smoothie that feels almost like a chilled juice. A ripe nectarine adds a fragrant stone-fruit note and a soft blush of colour.

About this smoothie

Melon and stone fruit peak at the same time in summer, and they suit each other well: the melon brings sweetness and a lot of juice, the nectarine a more aromatic, slightly tart flavour. Since the melon is so juicy, only a small amount of water is needed.

The smoothie is light and refreshing rather than filling. It fits a hot afternoon, a light breakfast or a break after sport.

Bartender tips

  • Chill the melon well beforehand; warm melon tastes flat.
  • A few mint leaves make it even more refreshing.

Variations

Cantaloupe
Use cantaloupe instead of honeydew for a deeper orange colour and more aroma.
