Pear Rocket Smoothie with Ginger

A ripe pear makes this smoothie juicy and soft, the green apple keeps it crisp. Rocket and ginger add just enough edge to stop it tasting like plain fruit purée.

About this smoothie

Pears are among the milder fruits and blend into a smooth, almost silky texture. Together with apple they bring fibre and natural sweetness. Rocket adds a peppery green note, and fresh ginger gives warmth.

Compared with a banana base, this version is lighter and more refreshing, which makes it a good choice on warm days or as a mid morning drink. The riper the pear, the less you notice the rocket.

Bartender tips

  • Very ripe, soft pears give the smoothest texture.
  • Chill the pear beforehand for a colder drink without ice.

Variations

Pear and spinach
Replace the rocket with baby spinach for a milder, rounder green smoothie.
