Iceberg Lettuce Smoothie with Green Apple

Mild, fresh and fruity, this is a green smoothie that does not taste like salad. The green apple does most of the talking, the lettuce keeps it light.

About this smoothie

Iceberg lettuce is often overlooked for smoothies because it is considered bland, but that is exactly its strength here. It contributes a lot of water and a clean, neutral freshness. A small amount of baby spinach adds colour, and a green apple provides tartness, sweetness and fibre.

Without herbs or strong greens, this smoothie is especially easy to drink and suits children and green smoothie beginners alike.

Bartender tips

  • A little honey balances very tart apples if needed.
  • Add ice cubes on hot days; the mild flavour holds up well.

Variations

Minty apple
Blend in four or five fresh mint leaves for extra freshness.
