Berry Spinach Smoothie with Banana

You would never guess there is spinach in this glass. The berries turn it deep purple and the baby banana brings all the sweetness it needs.

Berry Spinach Smoothie with Banana

Taste

Thick and fruity, tart berries softened by banana sweetness; the spinach is barely noticeable.

About this smoothie

Baby spinach is the easiest way into green smoothies: it is tender, mild and almost tasteless once blended with fruit. It contributes folate and vitamin K. The frozen berry mix does the heavy lifting on flavour and colour and chills the drink, while the baby banana (sweeter and more aromatic than a regular one) adds body. Everything together makes a thick, filling smoothie that suits breakfast or a snack after exercise.

Bartender tips

  • Put the leaves in first, closest to the blades, so no green flecks remain.
  • If it is too tart, add the other half of a banana or a teaspoon of honey.

Variations

With oat milk
Use oat milk instead of water for a creamier, rounder smoothie.
