About this smoothie

Almond milk is made from ground almonds and water and has a mild, slightly sweet and nutty taste that suits fruit very well. It is naturally lactose free, though unsweetened versions contain little protein.

That is where the natural yoghurt comes in, adding creaminess and a light tang. Banana provides sweetness, apple freshness and fibre. The old recipe mentioned an apple in the list and a pear in the method; both work, so use whichever you have. A simple, mild breakfast smoothie.

Bartender tips

  • Use unsweetened almond milk; the banana brings enough sweetness.
  • A teaspoon of almond butter strengthens the nutty flavour.

Variations

With pear
Swap the apple for a ripe pear for a softer, sweeter smoothie.
