Pear Smoothie with Sultanas and Hazelnuts

Taste

Sweet, creamy and toasty with juicy pear, caramel notes and a clear hazelnut flavour.

About this smoothie

Dates are very sweet with a caramel-like flavour and bring fibre, so they sweeten a smoothie without any sugar. Hazelnuts bring a sweet, toasty flavour plus protein and fibre, and they pair especially well with pear. Sultanas add fruity sweetness, and almond milk keeps the smoothie plant based and creamy. Since dried fruit is concentrated, this is a fairly sweet and filling smoothie, suitable for breakfast or as a treat in the colder months.

Bartender tips

  • Toast the hazelnuts briefly in a dry pan for a deeper flavour.
  • A pinch of cinnamon or ginger adds warmth.

Variations

With oat milk
Oat milk instead of almond milk makes the smoothie a little creamier and sweeter.

Frequently asked questions

Is it vegan?

Yes. All ingredients are plant based.

Do I need to soak the dried fruit?

It helps: soaked dates and sultanas blend much smoother.

Can I prepare it the night before?

Yes, it keeps covered in the fridge overnight; shake well and add a splash of milk if too thick.
