About this smoothie

Apples and pears are available almost all year, which makes this an easy smoothie to keep in your routine. The apple brings a crisp acidity, the pear a delicate sweetness and the banana a creamy body. Coconut milk drink ties them together with a mild coconut flavour and makes the smoothie dairy free.

It works well for breakfast or as an afternoon snack. Choose coconut milk drink from a carton; canned coconut milk is much thicker and richer and would make the smoothie heavy.

Bartender tips

  • A pinch of cinnamon works well with apple and coconut.
  • Add a few ice cubes if your fruit is not chilled.

Variations

Tropical
Replace the pear with 80 g pineapple for a sweeter, more tropical version.

Frequently asked questions

Is this smoothie vegan?

Yes, all ingredients are plant based.

Can I use canned coconut milk?

Yes, but dilute it: about 50 ml canned coconut milk with 100 ml water.

Do I need to peel the apple and pear?

No, a good blender handles the peel; peel them only if pieces remain.
