About this smoothie

Ginger is a rhizome with a sharp, warming flavour that comes from compounds such as gingerol. A small piece is enough to give a smoothie noticeable spice. Here it balances the sweetness of banana and the mild green taste of baby spinach. Banana provides potassium and body, spinach folate and vitamin K.

Because fresh ginger varies in strength, start small and add more after tasting. A bright, invigorating glass for the morning.

Bartender tips

  • Peel ginger easily by scraping the skin with a teaspoon.
  • Freeze peeled ginger in portions; it is easier to grate or blend.

Variations
