Apple Pineapple Smoothie with Passion Fruit

Taste

Light and tangy, with juicy apple and pineapple, perfumed passion fruit and cool mint.

About this smoothie

Apple and pineapple are a reliable base for fruity smoothies: the apple provides body and fibre, the pineapple juice and acidity. Passion fruit adds a strong exotic aroma out of all proportion to its size, and mint gives a cooling lift. Because there is no banana or yogurt, the texture is light and almost juice like. Agave syrup is only needed if your fruit is not fully ripe. A thirst quenching glass for summer mornings.

Bartender tips

  • Add the mint only for the last 10 seconds of blending if you want a finer, less grassy mint note.
  • Frozen pineapple chunks make it colder without diluting it.

Variations

Coconut touch
Replace half the water with coconut water for a softer, more tropical glass.

Frequently asked questions

Can I leave out the passion fruit?

Yes, but it adds much of the aroma; a squeeze of lime is a good replacement.

Can I use canned pineapple?

Yes, drained pineapple in juice works; skip the agave syrup then.

Is it vegan?

Yes, it contains only fruit, mint, water and agave syrup.
