About this smoothie

This smoothie pairs two gentle greens with physalis, the small golden berries in papery husks. Lamb's lettuce has a soft, nutty flavour, baby spinach adds colour, and together they provide folate and vitamin K. Physalis contribute vitamin C and a sweet and tangy taste reminiscent of pineapple.

Without banana it is light and quite tart; half a banana is listed as an option for more body. A fresh, unusual green smoothie for lunch or the afternoon.

Bartender tips

  • Ripe physalis are deep orange; pale ones are sour.
  • Add the optional half banana if the drink is too tart for you.

Variations

Tropical version
Add 60 g pineapple to highlight the tropical side of the physalis.
