Green Smoothie with Red Apple

This is the classic green smoothie formula: mild leaves, something creamy, something sweet and something fresh. The red apple adds crunch-fresh acidity to the mix.

Green Smoothie with Red Apple

Taste

Creamy and smooth, mildly sweet, with fresh apple and a soft green note.

About this smoothie

Baby spinach is the mildest leaf for green smoothies, so it is a good starting point. Avocado makes the drink creamy and filling, banana adds sweetness, and the red apple brings juiciness and a pleasant acidity. The quantities in the old recipe were garbled ("12 red apples" was meant to be half an apple), so they have been adjusted here for one large glass.

The result is balanced and easy to drink, a good everyday smoothie for breakfast or as a small meal between appointments.

Bartender tips

  • A frozen banana makes the smoothie colder without watering it down.
  • Add a few drops of lemon juice to keep the green colour bright.

Variations

Kale version
Replace half the spinach with kale for a stronger, earthier green.
