Mango Berry Smoothie

Lots of mango and a handful of frozen berries: that is all this smoothie needs. The berries turn it a deep raspberry pink and make it cold and thick.

About this smoothie

This is a pure fruit smoothie, with water instead of milk or juice, so the fruit flavours come through clearly. Mango provides most of the sweetness and body; the frozen berry mix, usually raspberries, blackberries, blueberries and redcurrants, adds acidity and colour. Frozen berries are picked and frozen ripe and are practical all year round. The drink is dairy free and has no added sugar. It is a good everyday breakfast smoothie.

Bartender tips

  • If your berry mix contains redcurrants, the smoothie will be more tart; balance with a riper mango.
  • Blend the mango and water first, then add the frozen berries, for an even texture.

Variations

With yogurt
Add 2 tbsp natural yogurt for a creamier, softer drink.
