About this smoothie

Pineapple and ginger are a classic pairing in tropical cooking: the sweet, tart fruit and the sharp, spicy root balance each other well. Fresh ginger is much more aromatic than the dried powder, so a thin slice is enough for one glass.

Cinnamon is an unusual but good addition here, giving the fruity drink a warm, slightly wintry note. Half a banana makes it creamier. The smoothie is vegan and works especially well on cooler days, when you want something fruity that still feels warming.

Bartender tips

  • Start with a small piece of ginger; you can always blend in more.
  • Freeze the pineapple in chunks beforehand for a thicker, colder smoothie.

Variations

With turmeric
Add a pinch of ground turmeric and a little black pepper for a golden colour.
