About this smoothie

Banana and almond milk are one of the most common smoothie bases, and adding oats turns the drink into a small breakfast. The oats thicken the texture and make it more filling, while natural yogurt brings a little acidity and extra creaminess.

Bananas are a familiar source of potassium, and oats provide fibre. If you want a fully plant based version, a soy or oat yogurt works in place of dairy yogurt.

Bartender tips

  • Let the oats soak in the almond drink for 5 minutes before blending for an even smoother texture.
  • Spotty, very ripe bananas give the most sweetness, so you will not need sugar.

Variations

Vegan version
Use a soy or oat yogurt instead of natural yogurt.

Frequently asked questions

Can I prepare it the night before?

Yes. The oats will thicken it in the fridge, so stir in a little more almond drink in the morning.

Can I use regular milk?

Yes, cow's milk works and makes it slightly richer.

Are instant oats fine?

Yes, fine oat flakes blend even more easily than jumbo oats.
