The Woo Woo belongs to the wave of fruity vodka drinks that swept American bars in the 1980s, when peach schnapps became a fashionable new ingredient. It is closely related to the Sex on the Beach, which uses the same base with orange juice added, and to the Fuzzy Navel of peach schnapps and orange juice.
There is no documented creator, and the playful name is typical of the party drinks of that era. It is often served as a shooter as well as a tall drink, and it remains a staple of casual bars thanks to its simple build and easy flavor.
