About this smoothie

Mango and yoghurt appear together in many drinks, the Indian mango lassi being the best known. This smoothie follows the same idea but is lighter, with water instead of more yoghurt. Fresh ginger brings a clean, warming heat, and it is best dosed carefully because its sharpness grows in the blender. Mango is a good source of vitamin C. A good choice for breakfast or a cool afternoon.

Bartender tips

  • Start with a thin slice of ginger and add more after tasting; it gets stronger the longer you blend.
  • For a thicker drink, use frozen mango chunks.

Variations

Lassi style
Replace the water with more yoghurt and add a pinch of ground cardamom.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use ground ginger?

Yes, use a small pinch. The flavour is warmer and less fresh than with fresh ginger.

Is it vegan?

Use a plant-based yoghurt and agave syrup instead of honey and it is.

Can I use canned mango?

Yes, drain it and skip the honey, since canned mango is usually sweetened.
