Orange Mint Smoothie with Ginger

Taste

Zesty and refreshing, sweet orange with a warm ginger bite and a cool mint finish.

About this smoothie

Citrus, ginger and mint are a classic trio in cold drinks, and they work just as well in a smoothie. Oranges are well known for their vitamin C, ginger adds a pleasant heat that you can dose to taste, and mint cools it down again. The strawberries bring colour and a softer, fruity sweetness.

Because it is based on juice, this smoothie is thin and refreshing rather than creamy. Serve it over ice on warm days or as a lively start to breakfast.

Bartender tips

  • Start with 5 g ginger if you are sensitive to heat; you can always blend in more.
  • Strain through a sieve if you prefer a completely smooth juice-like drink.

Variations

Carrot version
Replace the strawberries with one small carrot for an orange ginger carrot smoothie.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use bottled orange juice?

Yes, but freshly squeezed juice tastes noticeably brighter. Choose a not-from-concentrate juice.

Is it vegan?

Yes, all ingredients are plant based.

Can I prepare it ahead?

It keeps for a few hours in the fridge in a closed bottle. The ginger gets stronger as it stands.
