Kiwi and Pear Smoothie

A ripe pear is soft, floral and very juicy, which makes it an ideal partner for sharp kiwi. The smoothie tastes clean and light with a gentle sweetness.

About this smoothie

Pears bring natural sweetness and a delicate, floral aroma, and when blended with their skin they add fibre and body. Kiwis contribute a refreshing acidity and are well known for their vitamin C. Together they make a smoothie that is fruity but never heavy.

With water as the base it is vegan and light, a good choice for breakfast or a refreshing snack. Choose a pear that yields slightly at the stem; unripe pears make the drink grainy.

Bartender tips

  • Williams or Conference pears work especially well because they are soft and aromatic.
  • A few ice cubes in the blender make the smoothie extra refreshing.

Variations

With ginger
Add a thin slice of fresh ginger for a spicy note.
