Apple Pear Berry Smoothie

No milk, no yoghurt, no sweetener: just apple, pear and berries. The result is juicy, fresh and surprisingly thick thanks to the fruit fibre.

Apple Pear Berry Smoothie

Taste

Juicy and fruity, sweet from apple and pear with a fresh, tart berry note; medium body.

About this smoothie

Apples and pears are the backbone of many European smoothies: available all year, affordable and naturally sweet. Blended whole, they keep their fibre, which gives the drink more body than a juice. The frozen berries bring tartness, a deep red colour and vitamin C, and they chill the smoothie so no ice is needed. With nothing but fruit and water, this is one of the simplest recipes on the site and a reliable choice for breakfast or an afternoon snack.

Bartender tips

  • The riper the pear, the sweeter and smoother the smoothie.
  • For extra thickness freeze the pear pieces beforehand.

Variations

With baby spinach
Add about 20 g baby spinach; the taste barely changes and the berries hide the green.

Frequently asked questions

Is it vegan?

Yes. It consists only of fruit and water.

Do I have to peel apple and pear?

No, just wash them well and remove the cores.

Can I prepare it the night before?

It keeps covered in the fridge overnight, but it thickens and loses some freshness. Shake before drinking.
