Strawberry and banana is probably the best known smoothie pairing, and for good reason. Blended with water instead of milk it stays light and lets the fruit speak.

About this smoothie

Strawberry and banana complement each other well: the banana brings body and mellow sweetness, the strawberries acidity, aroma and a pink colour. Strawberries are rich in vitamin C, bananas provide potassium.

This version uses water as the liquid, which keeps it fresh and fruity rather than milkshake-like. It is quick to make, suits children and adults alike and works for breakfast, as a snack or after exercise.

Bartender tips

  • Out of season, frozen strawberries often taste better than fresh ones.
  • For a creamier glass, swap half the water for milk or yogurt.

Variations

Creamy version
Use milk or oat milk instead of water for a milkshake-style drink.
