Lime Apple Smoothie

Sweet red apples give this smoothie its body, and a generous shot of lime makes it sharp and wide awake. Orange juice sits in between and rounds it off.

About this smoothie

This smoothie is essentially an apple drink with a citrus boost. Red apples such as Gala or Braeburn supply natural sweetness and fibre, freshly squeezed orange juice adds fruitiness, and lime brings a clear, sharp acidity. Both citrus fruits are known for their vitamin C. Because there is no banana or dairy, it stays light and very refreshing, good on a warm day or as a wake-up glass.

Bartender tips

  • Add the lime juice gradually; limes vary a lot in acidity.
  • Sweet apple varieties balance the acidity best.

Variations

With mint
Blend in a few mint leaves for a mojito-like freshness without alcohol.
