Pear Melon Smoothie with Mint

Pear and honeydew are both mild, juicy and gently sweet, so they blend into a soft, pale green smoothie. Mint gives it the necessary lift.

About this smoothie

Where apple brings crispness, pear brings softness: its flesh blends into a smooth, almost creamy texture, and its flavour is floral rather than tart. Honeydew melon adds plenty of juice and a honeyed sweetness.

Because both fruits are low in acidity, the fresh mint is important here; it keeps the smoothie from tasting flat. A good choice for late summer, when ripe pears and melons are available at the same time.

Bartender tips

  • A squeeze of lemon juice adds acidity if the smoothie tastes too mild.
  • Use a well-chilled melon, then you do not need ice.

Variations

With cucumber
Add 80 g cucumber for an even lighter, more savoury version.
