About this smoothie

Blending whole peeled oranges instead of pressing them keeps more of the fruit, including fibre from the membranes. Oranges are well known for their vitamin C. Ripe papaya has a mild, sweet, slightly musky taste and a very soft texture, which makes the smoothie thicker without banana. The mint lifts everything with a cool, herbal note. A good glass for breakfast or a warm afternoon.

Bartender tips

  • Remove as much white pith as you can; it makes the smoothie bitter.
  • A squeeze of lime balances a papaya that tastes flat.

Variations

With ginger
Add a thumbnail-sized piece of peeled ginger for more warmth.
