Berry Nectarine Smoothie

A ripe nectarine brings a honeyed, floral sweetness that pairs naturally with tart berries. The frozen fruit keeps it cold without ice.

About this smoothie

Nectarines are a smooth skinned form of peach, with the same juicy flesh and no fuzz, so there is no need to peel them for the blender. Their sweetness and gentle acidity balance the sharper flavour of mixed berries. Both fruits contribute vitamin C, and berries add fibre.

This is a light, fruity smoothie without dairy or banana, best in summer when nectarines are at their ripest. Enjoy it at breakfast or on a warm afternoon.

Bartender tips

  • A ripe nectarine smells sweet and yields slightly when pressed.
  • Peaches work equally well.

Variations

Creamy version
Add 2 tbsp natural yogurt for a creamier, more filling drink.
