About this smoothie

Celery is mostly water and has a savoury, faintly salty flavour that pairs well with sweet fruit. Only half a stalk goes in, enough to be noticed without taking over. Pineapple provides natural sweetness, vitamin C and the enzyme bromelain.

This smoothie is a good first step for anyone who wants to try vegetables in a blender but still likes a fruity glass. It suits a warm day, a light breakfast or the afternoon.

Bartender tips

  • Pull off the coarse strings of older celery stalks, they do not blend well.
  • Add a squeeze of lime if the pineapple is very sweet.

Variations

With cucumber
Add 60 g cucumber for an even lighter, more hydrating glass.
