Kiwi Coconut Smoothie with Green Apple

Green apple and kiwi make this one of the tangiest smoothies in the collection. Coconut water and a touch of coconut oil soften the acidity with a gentle tropical roundness.

About this smoothie

Tart green apples such as Granny Smith pair naturally with kiwi, and together they create a crisp, sour and very fresh drink. Coconut water adds a mild sweetness, and half a teaspoon of coconut oil gives the thin liquid a little more body. Both kiwi and apple contribute vitamin C and fibre.

If you prefer it sweeter, use a ripe kiwi and add a few pieces of banana. A good pick for a hot morning.

Bartender tips

  • Blend the coconut oil with room temperature liquid first so it does not set in flakes.
  • Half a banana balances the acidity if needed.

Variations

Without coconut oil
Leave out the oil for a lighter, more juice-like drink.
