About this smoothie

Hazelnuts give smoothies body and a toasty, nutty flavour, and they are a source of unsaturated fats and vitamin E. Ripe papaya has a soft, melon like sweetness and a velvety texture that blends very smoothly. Natural yogurt brings a little tang, milk and honey round it off.

Because of the nuts this smoothie is quite filling and works well as a breakfast or a substantial snack. Toast the hazelnuts briefly in a dry pan for an even deeper flavour.

Bartender tips

  • Soak the hazelnuts in water for a few hours for a smoother texture.
  • A spoon of hazelnut butter is a quick substitute for whole nuts.

Variations

Banana hazelnut
Replace the papaya with a banana for a sweeter, more familiar flavour.
