About this smoothie

Pears are among the sweetest native fruits and have a soft texture that blends into a creamy smoothie. Their mild flavour pairs well with baby spinach, which adds a green colour but hardly any taste. Pears also contribute fibre, much of it in the skin, so there is no need to peel them. Cooled fruit tea adds aroma and keeps the drink light. It is a good first green smoothie and a gentle breakfast drink.

Bartender tips

  • Pears should be ripe but not mushy; they then give the best sweetness and texture.
  • A little ginger or lemon adds freshness if you find it too mild.

Variations

With banana
Replace half a pear with half a banana for a thicker smoothie.
