About this smoothie

Basil has sweet, slightly peppery and clove-like notes that suit citrus surprisingly well. A few leaves are enough; the aim is a hint of herb, not a salad. Whole oranges supply juice and pulp, the nectarine softens the acidity and adds aroma.

Oranges and nectarines are known to contain vitamin C. The smoothie is light and refreshing and fits a sunny breakfast or a summer afternoon.

Bartender tips

  • Add the basil at the end and blend briefly to keep its aroma fresh.
  • Use a peach if nectarines are not available.

Variations

With mint
Replace the basil with mint for a cooler flavour.
