Papaya and Baby Spinach Smoothie

Sweet papaya hides the spinach almost completely, so this green smoothie tastes mainly of tropical fruit. Only the olive green colour gives the leaves away.

About this smoothie

Papaya is soft, sweet and very easy to blend, which makes it a good base for green smoothies. It is known for its vitamin C. Baby spinach adds vitamin K and folate while staying mild in flavour. The orange of the papaya and the green of the spinach mix to an olive tone, which is normal.

The smoothie is vegan and light, a good first step into green smoothies. A squeeze of lime keeps the flavour fresh.

Bartender tips

  • Blend the spinach with the water first for a completely smooth texture.
  • Frozen papaya makes it colder and thicker without ice.

Variations

With mango
Replace half the papaya with mango for more sweetness.
