Avocado Pear Smoothie with Coconut Water

Pear and avocado are both soft, mild and a little buttery, which makes this one of the gentlest smoothies you can make. Chia seeds add body as it stands.

About this smoothie

Avocado provides creaminess without dairy, pear a juicy, floral sweetness. Neither is very acidic, so the result is soft and rounded, a good smoothie for anyone who does not like sharp flavours. Chia seeds contain fibre and plant based omega 3 fatty acids and thicken the drink gradually.

With coconut water as the liquid, it stays lighter than an avocado smoothie made with milk. It suits breakfast or a calm afternoon snack.

Bartender tips

  • A squeeze of lime brightens the flavour and keeps the colour fresh.
  • Let it stand for 5 minutes if you want a thicker texture.

Variations

With ginger
Add a thin slice of fresh ginger for a spicy note.
