Almond milk gives this blueberry smoothie a gentle nutty note, and a spoon of oats makes it filling enough for breakfast. The colour turns a soft lilac.

About this smoothie

Blueberries and almonds are a familiar pairing from muffins and granola, and they work just as well in a smoothie. The blueberries bring colour and a mild, tart sweetness, oats add fibre and body, and yoghurt a pleasant tang. Mixing whole milk with almond milk keeps the smoothie creamy while adding a subtle almond flavour.

With oats, milk and yoghurt it is fairly filling, so it works well as a quick breakfast or as a snack after sport.

Bartender tips

  • Frozen blueberries make it colder and give a deeper colour.
  • Add a drop of almond extract or 1 tbsp almond butter for a stronger almond flavour.

Variations

Fully plant based
Use only almond milk and a plant yoghurt.
