Avocado Strawberry Smoothie with Almond Milk

Taste

Thick and creamy like a shake, clearly strawberry, with a mild nutty background.

About this smoothie

Strawberries and avocado sound like an odd pair, but in a blender they work very well: the avocado provides body and a velvety mouthfeel without dominating, and the frozen strawberries bring sweetness, acidity and a frosty temperature. Almond milk is mild, lightly nutty and keeps the recipe free of dairy. Strawberries are rich in vitamin C, avocados contribute fibre and mostly unsaturated fats. A good breakfast that keeps you going for a while.

Bartender tips

  • If the smoothie is too thick to blend, add almond milk a tablespoon at a time.
  • Unsweetened almond milk keeps the flavour clean; the ripe fruit brings enough sweetness.

Variations

With banana
Add half a banana for a sweeter, even creamier version.
