Apple Berry Smoothie with Avocado

The apple brings crisp sweetness, the berries a tart edge and deep colour. Half an avocado quietly turns it all creamy without any dairy.

Apple Berry Smoothie with Avocado

Taste

Fruity and fresh with apple sweetness, tart berries and a creamy, rounded body.

About this smoothie

This smoothie combines three everyday ingredients in a sensible way. A red apple provides natural sweetness and fibre, the frozen berry mix adds acidity, colour and vitamin C and chills the drink at the same time. The avocado is there for texture: it makes the smoothie smooth and filling, with mostly unsaturated fats. Water keeps the flavour fresh and the fruit clearly in focus. It suits breakfast or a quick snack between meals.

Bartender tips

  • Sweet varieties such as Gala or Pink Lady make the best base here.
  • A powerful blender is useful because of the apple peel; otherwise peel the apple first.

Variations

With spinach
Add a small handful of baby spinach (about 20 g) for a green boost; the berries hide the colour.
