Campari replaces the usual grenadine, so the red layer at the bottom brings bitter orange and herbs rather than plain sweetness. The result looks like a classic sunrise but drinks more grown-up.

Enamorada Sunrise
Taste
Juicy orange with a bitter, herbal undertow that grows as the Campari mixes in. Light, refreshing and not too sweet.
History and origin
The Enamorada Sunrise is a modern twist on the Tequila Sunrise, the orange juice and grenadine highball that became world famous in the 1970s. Its creator is not documented.
Swapping grenadine for Campari follows a simple idea: Campari is a little heavier than the tequila and juice mix, so poured slowly it sinks and forms a reddish base (less sharply than grenadine), while its bitterness balances the sweetness of the juice. Enamorada means "in love" in Spanish, presumably a nod to the drink's red colour. The combination of tequila, orange and a bitter Italian aperitivo also recalls drinks such as the Rosita and the tequila Negroni.
Bartender tips
Freshly squeezed juice makes a big difference because the drink has so few ingredients.
For a stronger bitter note, raise the Campari to 20 ml.
Stir before drinking if you prefer an even, pink-orange drink.
