About this smoothie

Basil is best known from Italian cooking, but its sweet, slightly aniseed aroma also pairs well with fruit, as in strawberry basil desserts. Here it brings freshness to sweet papaya and creamy cherimoya.

Papaya is rich in vitamin C, cherimoya adds creaminess without banana. A few drops of lime balance the sweetness. Enjoy it as a fragrant snack on warm days.

Bartender tips

  • Add the basil at the end and blend only briefly so its aroma stays fresh.
  • Remove all seeds carefully: cherimoya seeds are not edible and must never go into the blender.

Variations

With mint
Replace the basil with mint for a cooler flavour.
