Pear Smoothie with Berry Mix

A juicy pear softens the tartness of frozen berries and gives the smoothie a mellow sweetness. The frozen fruit keeps it cold and thick without ice.

About this smoothie

Pear is a useful partner for tart berries: it brings sweetness and juiciness without the heaviness of banana. A frozen berry mix, usually raspberries, blackberries, blueberries and currants, adds intense flavour and a deep red colour. Berries provide vitamin C and fibre, pears add more fibre, much of it in the skin.

This smoothie can be made all year with frozen berries and seasonal pears. A light, refreshing option for breakfast or the afternoon.

Bartender tips

  • Add the liquid first so the frozen berries blend more easily.
  • A ripe, soft pear gives more sweetness than a firm one.
