Spinach Smoothie with Grapes

Sweet grapes do all the work here, so the greens taste mild and fresh. It is a thin, juicy smoothie, closer to a green juice than to a thick shake.

About this smoothie

Grapes are one of the best fruits for beginners' green smoothies: they are very juicy and sweet, and their flavour masks leafy greens well. Seedless varieties blend without bitterness. Spinach and lamb's lettuce are both mild leaves, so the result tastes more of grape than of salad.

Because there is no banana or yoghurt, this smoothie stays light and refreshing. It fits a warm afternoon or a light breakfast next to something more filling.

Bartender tips

  • Freeze the grapes beforehand for an icy smoothie without dilution.
  • Red seedless grapes work too but turn the colour brownish.

Variations

With cucumber
Add 50 g cucumber for an even lighter, more refreshing drink.

It is better not to; the seeds make the smoothie bitter and gritty.
