About this smoothie
Muesli goes back to the Swiss doctor Maximilian Bircher-Benner, who served soaked oats with grated apple around 1900. This smoothie borrows the idea: oats and fruit, but blended into a drink.
Rolled oats bring fibre and make the smoothie filling, the banana supplies all the sweetness it needs. Mixing almond milk with cow’s milk keeps the taste mild but gives it a light almond aroma. It is a practical breakfast for mornings when there is no time to sit down.
Bartender tips
Soak the oats in the milk for 5 minutes before blending for an even smoother texture.
Add a pinch of cinnamon if you like it warmer and spicier.
Variations
Fully plant based
Use 175 ml almond milk and leave out the cow’s milk.
